Overcoming Challenges, Celebrating Women

Last week, I had the honor of speaking to an incredible group of women in economic development, hosted by Radius Indiana. Sharing stories from my 10+ years in the field, I reflected on the unique challenges we face as women professionals—balancing expectations, advocating for ourselves, and thriving in environments not always built for us. These experiences are personal, sometimes messy, and always meaningful.

Lessons That Resonate

In my talk, we explored:

  1. Managing Expectations – Communicating boundaries and clarity is essential for success.
  2. Setting Boundaries – Avoiding burnout starts with protecting your time and energy.
  3. Advocating for Yourself – Telling people what you need is not selfish—it’s essential.

These lessons weren’t just shared as tips; they were forged through years of trial and error. Being a working mom added another layer of complexity and joy to my journey, reminding me daily of the value of authenticity and resilience.
