Why Giving Back Matters: Lessons from a Small Business and Four Amazing Causes
Giving Tuesday is a global reminder that we’re stronger together, and for me, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the joy of giving back—not just personally but as a small business owner. At mkw+co, I believe in supporting our community and building connections that go beyond business.
Here are four ways + organizations I support and why they inspire me:
- Care Community Leader at Traders Point Christian Church: Supporting a foster mom through Traders Point has taught me the value of collective care. It’s a reminder that we’re not meant to go through life alone.
- Board of Directors for the Arc of Greater Boone County: As a board member, I see firsthand the impact this organization has on empowering individuals with disabilities. It’s a privilege to help guide their vision.
- Little Free Library Steward with Indy Book Project: I love fostering a love of reading in my community. Stewarding a Little Free Library brings me joy and connects neighbors in unexpected ways.
- ReadUP Volunteer through Boone County Mentoring Program: Helping a 3rd grader improve her reading skills is a small but powerful way to invest in the next generation.
This Giving Tuesday, consider how you or your business can contribute. Donate, volunteer, or find a cause that resonates with your team. Share in the comments how you or your team give back!
